ACP Free Tablet The Program Has Ended

The Affordable Connectivity Program is no longer accepting enrollments or providing its former broadband and connected device benefits.

Do not apply for “new ACP benefits.”

Websites may still use old ACP language, outdated tablet offers, or enrollment forms even though the federal program ended.

ACP FEDERAL PROGRAM RECORD
ENDED
PROGRAM END DATE JUNE 1, 2024
NEW ENROLLMENT CLOSED
ACP TABLET BENEFIT ENDED
NOW
01 / THE CURRENT ANSWER

Can you still get an ACP free tablet?

NO

There is no active federal ACP enrollment process and no current ACP connected-device discount to claim. A tablet advertised today must come from some other provider, promotion, assistance program, or purchasing arrangement.

02 / HISTORICAL BENEFITS

What ACP provided before it ended.

These amounts explain why older websites still contain strong “ACP tablet” language. They describe the former program, not benefits available for new enrollment today.

01
BROADBAND Monthly service discount
UP TO $30
Per month toward qualifying broadband service.
02
QUALIFYING TRIBAL LANDS Enhanced monthly discount
UP TO $75
Former enhanced monthly broadband benefit.
03
CONNECTED DEVICE One-time device discount
UP TO $100
Applied to an eligible laptop, desktop computer, or tablet from a participating provider.
THE FORMER DEVICE RULE It was not necessarily a $0 tablet.

Under the former ACP device benefit, the household had to contribute more than $10 but less than $50 toward the connected device.

03 / WHAT HAPPENED

The ACP wind-down in three dates.

2021
ACP was created

The program was established to help eligible households afford broadband and, in certain cases, a connected device.

FEB 2024
New enrollment stopped

The program entered its wind-down as available funding approached exhaustion.

JUN 2024
ACP officially ended

The program ended on June 1 after additional funding was not provided.

04 / OUTDATED CLAIM CHECK

Old ACP wording can still appear online.

IF YOU SEE THIS
CURRENT REALITY
“Apply for ACP today”
Outdated. New ACP enrollment is closed.
“Get your ACP tablet”
Verify the source. There is no active ACP device benefit.
“ACP approval required”
Question the claim. Applicants cannot obtain new ACP approval.
“Enter your information to enroll”
Stop and verify. Do not provide sensitive information to a site presenting ACP enrollment as active.
ACTIVE
05 / WHAT TO LOOK AT INSTEAD

Lifeline still exists. But it is not the old ACP.

Lifeline is a separate federal program that helps eligible households reduce the monthly cost of qualifying phone or internet service.

Lifeline does not restore the former ACP tablet benefit.

A free, discounted, or low-cost tablet advertised by a company should be treated as a separate device offer and verified on its own terms.

06 / BEFORE SHARING INFORMATION

If a website mentions ACP, check what it is really offering.

01 Is it claiming ACP enrollment is open?

That does not match the current federal program status.

02 Is the tablet actually a provider promotion?

Identify the real program or company behind the offer.

03 Are price and terms visible?

Confirm device cost, service conditions, shipping, and availability before submitting information.

RULE An old federal program name should never be the reason you hand over sensitive personal information.
ACP CLOSED
07 / MOVING FORWARD

Start with programs that are active now.

If you need affordable phone or internet service, check whether you qualify for Lifeline. If your goal is a tablet, verify the current device offer separately rather than searching for an ACP application.
